15-year-old Cassidy Stay was the only survivor of a shooting after her former uncle broke into the Stay family's home and murdered Cassidy's parents and four siblings.

At a family memorial, Cassidy spoke and thanked the community for their support. She also quoted 'Harry Potter: The Prisoner of Azkaban' saying 'Happiness can be found in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.'

The internet then went on a campaign to help Cassidy meet J.K. Rowling, creating a special Facebook page.

J.K. Rowling has responded by sending a letter to Cassidy, from 'Dumbledore' himself. In addition to the letter, she was sent a wand, an acceptance letter to Hogwarts with a school supply list, and an autographed 'Harry Potter' book.

A spokesperson for Rowling told the Houston Chronicle:"We can confirm that J.K. Rowling did indeed send a personalized letter to Cassidy Stay. The contents of the letter and how it came about are private and between her and Cassidy."
