A Coming to America Sequel Starring Eddie Murphy Is Officially Happening

YES!!!!! Eddie Murphy, who's reprising the lead role of African Prince Akeem, confirmed the film is officially moving forward and hopes to bring all of the beloved characters back.

According to Eddie Murphy, "“We'’ve assembled a great team that will be led by Craig Brewer, who just did an amazing job on Dolemite [Is My Name], and I'’m looking forward to bringing all these classic and beloved characters back to the big screen.”"

Paramount is hoping the original cast, which included Arsenio Hall, James Earl Jones, Shari Headley, and John Amos,— will return for the sequel.

Craig Brewer, who did the movie "Hustle & Flow," will direct, with Kenya Barris, the creator of "Black-ish" writing the script.

In the new movie, Prince Akeem returns to America to find his long-lost son, the heir to the throne of the African nation of Zamunda.
