This Map Shows Where You'd Wind Up If You Dug Straight Through The Earth

Growing up, most kids would dig a hole and say they planned to keep going until they went through the planet and emerged on the other side, which they claimed would be in China or Australia. Well now, thanks to a new map, anyone can see exactly where they'd wind up if they went straight through the Earth, and it turns out, it's probably not China or Australia.

AntipodesMap.com features the map, which pinpoints the exact coordinates where you'd wind up if you went in a straight line through the Earth, starting at any point. With 70% of the planet covered in water, the majority of the time you'll wind up in an ocean, especially if you start in America. The country's "antipode," the place on Earth diametrically opposite from it, seems to be the middle of the Indian Ocean between Madagascar and the West Coast of Australia.

There are some cities though that are truly on opposite sides of the Earth, and the site lists many of them, including Montevideo, Uruguay and Seoul, South Korea; Madrid, Spain and Weber, New Zealand; Hong Kong and La Quiaca, Argentina; as well as others.

The website also offers interesting geographical trivia as well as helpful information about latitude and longitude. Find out your antipode here.
