Vicki Cornell Reacts To Soundgarden's Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Nomination

On Tuesday (October 15) the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame announced the nominees for its Class of 2020, and Soundgarden's name was called for the first time. When the news broke, Chris Cornell's widow Vicki promptly took to Twitter to congratulate the band and commemorate her late husband.

"Congratulations @soundgarden! I’m so proud!" she wrote. "I know @chriscornell would be so honored! Thank you @rockhall this means so much & thank you to all the fans who’s love & support continues to cement Chris’s life and legacy #soundgarden #chriscornell forever"

Aside from the grunge pioneers receiving their first nod, eight other names made the cut for the first time: Whitney Houston, Dave Matthews Band, The Notorious B.I.G., The Doobie Brothers, Motörhead, Pat Benatar, T. Rex, and Thin Lizzy.

The returning seven nominees include Todd Rundgren (nominated for Class of 2019), Judas Priest (nominated for Class of 2018), Depeche Mode (nominated two times before), Rufus featuring Chaka Khan (nominated three times before), Kraftwerk (nominated five times before), MC5 (nominated four times before), and Nine Inch Nails (nominated two times before).

The inductees will be announced in January with the induction ceremony set to take place May 20 in Cleveland, Ohio. Check out Vicki's heartfelt tweet below and see what artists we think got snubbed this year here.
