Chris Christie Joins List Of People In Trump's Circle With COVID-19

Chris Christie is the latest person who had close contact with President Donald Trump to test positive for COVID-19. Christie met with President Trump last Sunday (September 27) and Monday at the White House to help him prepare for the presidential debate against Joe Biden.

"I just received word that I am positive for COVID-19," Christie wrote on Twitter. "I want to thank all of my friends and colleagues who have reached out to ask how I was feeling in the last day or two. I will be receiving medical attention today and will keep the necessary folks apprised of my condition."

Christie is now the 14 person in Trump's inner circle who has tested positive for COVID-19. The list includes First Lady Melania Trump, Trump's senior aide Hope Hicks, former White House counselor Kellyanne Conway, Senators Ron JohnsonThom Tillis, and Mike Lee, Trump's 2020 campaign manager Bill Stepien, Republican National Convention Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel, Notre Dame University President Rev. John Jenkins, three White House reporters, and one White House staffer.

Many of those who have tested positive attended a ceremony at the White House last weekend announcing the nomination of Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court. There was minimal social distancing, and many of the attendees were not wearing masks.

President Trump was taken to Walter Reed Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. As of Saturday morning, his doctors said that he is "doing very well."
