Kamala Harris And Mike Pence To Be Separated By Plexiglass At VP Debate

The Commission on Presidential Debates is rolling out new health and safety procedures for the Vice Presidential debate between Mike Pence and Kamala Harris on Wednesday (October 7).

Before the debate starts, Harris and Pence will be tested for COVID-19. They will not be required to wear a mask on stage and will be separated by a plexiglass partition. The two candidates will be seated more than 12 feet apart. Moderator Susan Page of USA Today will also be sitting about 12 feet away from the candidates.

As with the first presidential debate, the candidates will forgo the pre-debate handshake.

A limited number of guests will be allowed to watch inside the debate hall at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. Everybody in attendance will be required to wear a mask and must submit proof they have tested negative for COVID-19.

The debate starts at 9 p.m. ET on Wednesday night and will run until 10:30. The debate will be divided into nine ten-minute segments, and each candidate will have two minutes to respond to the opening question. The list of topics has not been released.

You can listen to the debate on NBC News Radio and on iHeartMedia stations nationwide, as well as on the iHeartRadio app.
