Listen To Weezer Cover Metallica's 'Enter Sandman' For Covers Album

Weezer has unveiled a faithful cover of Metallica's iconic 1991 hit "Enter Sandman."

The cover comes from the forthcoming Metallica Blacklist compilation, proceeds from which will benefit Metallica's All Within My Hands charity foundation.

Rivers Cuomo is a proud metal fan, so while his band's "Enter Sandman" does include some notable weezerisms, it stays close to the original. Check it out via the player above!

Cuomo's love of Metallica has come out in Weezer's music before. In one Rolling Stone interview, he pointed out that the verse guitar part in Weezer's "Undone (The Sweater Song)" is an inadvertent copy of "Welcome Home (Sanitarium)" from Metallica's 1986 album Master of Puppets. He said he didn't realize the similarities between the two riffs until years later.

The Metallica Blacklist is due out the same day (September 10) as the band's 30th anniversary Black Album reissue package. Blacklist features a total of 53 artists from a variety of genres interpreting their favorite Black Album songs.

Weezer is currently out on the 'Hella Mega' tour with Green Day and Fall Out Boy. Get all the tour dates here.

In addition to putting together the Black Album anniversary fanfare, Metallica has been crafting a new album. The band will get back onstage this September for the first time in two years, beginning a string of U.S. festival performances, culminating this December with the band's 40th anniversary celebration.
