A popular snack sold in stores around the country, including in North Carolina, has been recalled due to a potential "safety hazard" that could be dangerous.

Riverside Natural Foods Inc. has issued a voluntary recall of several of its MadeGood granola bars over the potential presence of a piece of metal, which could be harmful for consumers, according to a recall notice shared by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration.

Products impacted by the recall were produced between January and November 2024 and distributed across the United States and Canada. The recall includes MadeGood granola bars in the following flavors: Chocolate Chip, Mixed Berry, Strawberry, Cookies & Crème, Chocolate Banana, Chocolate Drizzled Birthday Cake, Chocolate Drizzled Cookie Crumble and Chocolate Drizzled Vanilla. A full list of specific recalled products, including UPC and Best-By Dates, can be found on the FDA's website.

According to the company, no injuries have been reported, but the recall was initiated "as a precautionary measure" as "the health and safety of our consumers is our highest priority." Anyone who has purchased one or more of the affected products should return them to the place of purchase for a refund.
