A lucky North Carolina woman is still flying high after winning a huge lottery prize thanks to a second chance drawing.
Bonny Harmon, of Sanford, beat more than 33 million entries to win the $250,000 grand prize in Wednesday's (April 9) 2025 Multiply The Cash Second Chance drawing, the first of four drawings that give lottery players another shot at winning big, according to a release from the NC Education Lottery.
The Lee County woman was in the middle of her workday when she got the call with the exciting news, which she immediately shared with her coworkers.
"I was actually in a meeting when I got the call. I told all my coworkers, 'Guess what? I just won the lottery,'" she said, adding that her emotions were running high. "Thank goodness there was a chair there because I thought I was going to pass out. I had to sit down."
She continued, "I was on cloud nine. My head is still up there in the clouds."
Harmon claimed her prize at lottery headquarters on Friday (April 11), taking home $179,375 after all required state and federal tax withholdings. According to lottery officials, her win will allow her to enjoy more time with her loved ones.
"I am so, so excited," she said. "Now I can spend more time with my family."
