Do Good Things: Check Out Community Matters Cafe

Addiction is everywhere. It is not just the stereotype of a homeless man or a woman with a sign, crying on a street corner. It is behind closed doors, in the spaces between Instagram posts and beneath even smiling faces we see everyday. Addiction is everywhere. But fortunately in Charlotte, there is a strong recovery community bringing people together. The Community Matters Cafe opened in Third Ward in April. It is run by those in the recovery programs of the Charlotte Rescue Mission. Each employee has completed a 120 day drug and alcohol recovery program prior to starting at the cafe. Coffee, connection, community...bridging the gap between the public and the Rescue Mission. Read about Tony Barnett and the others being reshaped by this place. And then meet me there.
